Charter


Article I. Name

The name of this committee shall be the Information Services Board (ISB) Enterprise Architecture Committee.

Article II. Purpose

The committee will establish, direct and govern the state of Washington's enterprise architecture program, subject to final review and approval of policies and standards by the ISB. It will seek proactive opportunities to build an enterprise technical architecture that guides and optimizes state technology resources.

Article III. Scope

Enterprise Architecture is defined as:

A logically consistent set of principles, practices, policies, models, standards, and guidelines that are derived from business requirements, that guide decision-making and the engineering of an organization's information systems and technical infrastructure.

The focus of this architectural specification is on those systems, subsystems, or components that will have or show a reasonable probability of having to share data, interoperate, or be consistent with the systems, subsystems, or components outside the agency.

Article IV. Goals

The goals of the Enterprise Architecture Committee are:

  • Guide efforts to plan, design, and implement an enterprise architecture program for Washington state government.
  • Establish an architecture baseline, gather business drivers, develop and maintain a target architecture and implementation plan.
  • Develop enterprise architecture principles, practices, processes, policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Establish alignment between the architecture and the state strategic IT plan and the priorities of state government.

Article V. Membership and Administration

  • Membership shall be as specified in Article III of the Enterprise Architecture Committee By-Laws.
  • The presiding officer of Committee shall be the Chair or one of the co-chairs.
  • Meetings shall be held as determined by the presiding officer, initially every two weeks.
  • The Department of Information Services Management and Oversight of Strategic Technologies Division will serve as staff to the Committee.
